James: Construction Schedule Altered for Venango County Improvement Project

HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Crawford) announced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) changed its construction schedule for the Route 62/322 Improvement Project in the City of Franklin, Venango County, due to unexpected delays – shifting certain tasks scheduled for this year to next year.

This plan runs from the intersection of Liberty Street and Eighth Street in the City of Franklin to the intersection of Route 8 and Route 62 in Sandycreek Township. The goal is to boost reliability and efficiency for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.

Work completed this year includes reconstructing Route 8/62 from Chestnut Street to 14th Street; intersection widening at 8th Street, Garnett Wood Way, and 15th Street; realigning the intersection at Liberty and 12th streets; replacing waterline; and repairing various utilities. If weather holds steady, work is expected to continue through November.

Upcoming activities include temporary asphalt paving at 8th and 12th streets; completion of drainage improvements on the 15th Street hill; and finishing curb, sidewalk and signal foundation installations throughout the corridor. Final construction work scheduled for 2027 will include milling and base repair; final asphalt paving; and setting up new traffic signals.
