Fire, EMS Grants Dedicated to 64th District, Says James

HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Crawford) announced more than $364,500 in grant funding will support fire companies and emergency medical services in the 64th District.

Established by the Legislature, the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The grant money comes from state gaming proceeds as required under state law. It was first initiated in 2000 and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction, recruitment, retention, public education about fire safety, and training. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
