HARRISBURG – As businesses continue to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) announced today $20 million in pandemic relief funding is now available to help image and hair care professionals bounce back.
“Businesses suffered mightily during the course of the pandemic,” James said. “Salons and barber shops are significant in the well-being of a functioning local economy.”
According to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), businesses that applied to, but did not receive assistance from last year’s $225 million grant program, will be eligible for this round of funding.
James said House Republicans called on Gov. Tom Wolf to help businesses by distributing available pandemic relief funding, which included prioritizing the recovery with the $372 million pandemic response discretionary account his office received as part of the FY 2021-22 state budget.
“My colleagues and I take great pride in supporting recovery efforts within Pennsylvania,” James said. “I am happy to see this funding become available to businesses in the hair care industry who desperately need it. If you are a small business in the salon industry, who applied last year for the Small Business Assistance Program, contact your local Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Network to check your status.”
