HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) announced Frenchcreek Township in Venango County received a $318,625 loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST) to address the design of the replacement wastewater treatment plant.
“The plant needs substantial improvements due to its age, deterioration and inefficiency of the system’s equipment and process units,” said James. “From nutrient reduction to the treatment process during a power outage, the plant is limited in its capabilities to function properly.”
The project will ensure the plant is in compliance and improve public and aquatic health.
“The replacement plant will successfully meet permit limits, refine water quality and enhance capabilities to complete necessary tasks,” James said. “The plant is at the end of its life. I am pleased that PennVEST lent Frenchcreek Township a helping hand.”
PennVEST issues low-interest loans to municipalities for the design, engineering and construction of publicly and privately-owned drinking water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as storm water and wastewater projects.
