James to Offer Important Information for Seniors on Oct. 24
SENECA – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) is hosting a free seminar for seniors about PACE/PACENET, how to recognize scams and defending against identity theft. It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Cranberry Place Senior Center, Cranberry Mall,
6945 Route 322, Cranberry.
PACE and PACENET are Pennsylvania’s prescription assistance programs for adults at least 65 years of age. Income limitations, and other requirements, can be found online at
aging.pa.gov.
Representatives from the attorney general’s office and the Department of Aging will be leading the seminar. They will also be available to answer questions.
“Criminals are getting increasingly savvy in their attempts to dupe us out of our hard-earned money. Decades ago, we just had to watch our purses or wallets in public. Now, we must consider the legitimacy of emails asking us for financial information, calls referencing our grandchildren in emergencies and on and on,” James said.
While there is no cost to attend the event, seating is limited. Residents of the 64th District are asked to RSVP to the office by calling 814-677-6413.
“As we near the holiday season when so many of us are at our most charitable, it’s especially important to be cautious so those in need are the ones to benefit from our giving spirits – not con artists,” James added.
