James Invites Gun Owners to Concealed Carry Seminar
SENECA – State Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) is inviting local gun owners to attend a seminar on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Coon and Fox Club where they can learn about the rights and responsibilities that accompany a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
“This should be a good informational session for interested gun owners,” James said. “It will be an opportunity for residents to learn about some of the intricacies of existing gun laws.”
There is no cost to attend the event which will last from 5-7 p.m.
Space is limited and residents who wish to attend are asked to RSVP by calling James’ office at 814-677-6413.
Residents must be at least 21 years old to obtain a concealed carry permit in Pennsylvania.
The seminar will provide information about the process to acquire a concealed carry permit, the regularity with which the permit needs to be renewed and the circumstances under which a permit may be revoked. Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine also will be discussed.
The seminar also will cover safety suggestions about what gun owners who are carrying a concealed weapon should do when they come in contact with a member of law enforcement.
“The right to lawfully own a gun is very important to many people in the 64th Legislative District,” James said. “I understand that and I stand up for that right whenever I travel to Harrisburg to represent our district.”
Venango County Sheriff Eric Foy, Venango County District Attorney Shawn White and Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe will be at the seminar.
The Coon and Fox Club is located at 126 Martin Hill Road in Franklin.
