James Announces More Than $377,000 in Grants for Local Fire Departments and Ambulance Services
2/13/2013
HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) today announced more than $377,000 in state grants will be provided to local fire departments and ambulance services in parts of Butler County and all of Venango County.

“Our firefighters and ambulance personnel are there when we need them,” James said. “This is the Commonwealth’s way of being there for them when they need us.”

Funding for the grant program is garnered through state gaming proceeds. Last session, the General Assembly voted to extend and expand the program so that more companies throughout Pennsylvania will benefit from the successful initiative. The grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Office of Fire Commissioner within the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA).

The grant funding now provides up to $30 million each year to assist with construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reducing existing debt.
