James Assigned to Finance and Three Other Committees
HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) – who has more than 40 years working as a local businessman, banker and investor – today was assigned to serve on the state House Finance Committee and three other standing committees.

The state House Finance Committee vets legislation dealing with taxes and revenues.

“I’m committed to keeping taxes down so that companies and taxpayers can help rebuild our economy,” James said. “When taxpayers keep more of the money they earn, they can spend and invest in the private economy, which is exactly what our Commonwealth needs right now.”

James also was assigned to serve on the state House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, which handles legislation dealing with programs and services to help military families and emergency response activities.

“I’m excited about working on legislation that will improve the lives of our military veterans and their families,” said James, who served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-72. “These men and women have done so much to protect our nation and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We have a responsibility to provide them with the support they need following their service to our country.”

In addition to his previous service in the Navy, James currently serves on the 5th Congressional District Military Academies Advisory Board.

James also has been assigned to serve on the Local Government Committee and the Human Services Committee.

The state House Local Government Committee reviews and adopts legislation affecting county and municipal governments across the Commonwealth. The Human Services Committee considers legislation related to programs and services that help persons with disabilities, those who suffer from alcohol or drug addiction, and the professionals who help these communities.

“I have been assigned to a diverse group of committees dealing with a wide range of issues,” James said. “I’m eager to perform the heavy lifting that is handled through the committee process.”
