James Sworn In to Serve First Term in State House
Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) was in Harrisburg on Tuesday to take the oath of office and begin his first term as the state representative from the 64th Legislative District.
HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) today in Harrisburg took the oath of office and was officially sworn in to serve as the state representative for the 64th Legislative District.

“This experience has been truly exceptional,” James said. “Taking the oath of office in the ornate House chamber among my colleagues was something I will never forget.”

The 64th Legislative District covers all of Venango County and part of Butler County. James replaces former Rep. Scott Hutchinson, who ran for and was selected to serve as the state senator for the 21st Senatorial District.

James’s top legislative priority is promoting legislation that will enhance private-sector job creation.

“State government should create a climate in which entrepreneurs and innovators can create good-paying, private-sector jobs for our workers,” said James, who has 40 years of experience as a local businessman, working in both the banking and investment management sectors. “Too many families are still feeling the negative effects of the Great Recession. My background is in business and it’s time to get Pennsylvania working again.”

In addition to job creation, James’s other top legislative priorities include investing in the roads, bridges and other infrastructure necessary for a strong economy and safe communities; responsibly harvesting Pennsylvania’s abundant natural resources in a way that promotes economic growth while protecting environmental integrity; and improving the education system for the benefit of Pennsylvania students and parents.

“I am optimistic about Pennsylvania’s future because of our residents,” James said. “We are blessed with hard-working people, plentiful natural resources and many other advantages that other states and nations do not enjoy. Pennsylvania can compete in the 21st century economy. Our best days are in our future, not our past.”
