James Takes Fifth Oath of Office to Serve 64th District
1/5/2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Butler) today took the oath of office to begin his fifth term in the state House of Representatives working for the 64th District in the 2021-22 Legislative Session. The day’s proceedings also included the formal election of Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) as House Speaker, as well as a vote on rules to govern the body for the next two years.

“Given the overwhelming challenges businesses in the Commonwealth are facing because of the pandemic and the restrictions imposed because of it, I am eager to use my 40 years of experience as a local businssman this session,” James said. “We need to focus on creating family-sustaining jobs and streamlining regulations that have unfairly hurt business owners. We’re seeing that now with company owners who transitioned to make critical and scarce products – like a distillery producing hand sanitizer to donate instead of the usual spirits – being hit with significant unexpected fees from the United States Food and Drug Administration. It’s wrong on so many levels.”

The House will return to voting session on Jan. 11. James has not yet been assigned to the committees on which he’ll serve, but will announce that information when it is available.

“No matter how the leadership team plans to use my skills and experiences, I’m ready to work for the people. I am truly honored by the trust they have again placed in me, and I will work with their needs and interests as my motivation each day,” James added.
